If we do not have in our hearts the realization of this pure truth; if we are not internally persuaded that the greatest favor we can receive from God’s hand is to be judged worthy of the opprobrium of the Cross, and if we are not convinced that such a blessing is preferable to all the extraordinary gifts of the saints, then we are totally blind and must continually ask God for this marvelous enlightenment.
• During this week consciously accept an unjustified humiliation if someone accuses you or someone speaks badly about you.
• Prayer: My Jesus, give the strength so I may accept suffering and free me from the desire to distance myself from the cross. Grant me the grace that, like Maria De Mattias, I can recognize the preciousness of suffering as the greatest gift that makes me like you. Amen!
